Questions

Christmas tree questions, answered

Nordmann Fir (low needle drop) or Norway Spruce: which should I choose?

Nordmann Fir has soft, deep green needles that hold on well, which is why so many families choose one. Ours are fresh pre-cut trees, brought in and ready to take home, from 4ft to around 9ft. It grows more slowly, about a foot every two years, so it costs a little more.

Norway Spruce is the traditional British Christmas tree, with the classic shape and a fresh, foresty scent. It's the one you can pick yourself in our fields, and we cut it fresh on the day. There's limited availability on smaller trees. Keep it watered and away from radiators.

How do I keep my tree fresh?

Get it into water as soon as you're home. If it has been out of water for more than a few hours, saw a thin slice off the base first so it can drink.

Use a stand that holds water and check it every day, because a fresh tree can drink a lot in its first week. Keep it away from radiators, fires and heating vents.

What size tree do I need?

Measure from floor to ceiling, then take off the height of your stand and whatever goes on top. Leave a little space under the ceiling.

Width matters too: a bigger tree spreads wide at the bottom, so measure the floor space as well. If you're not sure, bring your measurements and we'll help you choose.

When should I buy my tree?

Any time once we open on 21st November. Our Nordmann firs arrive fresh pre-cut and our Norway Spruce are cut on the day you choose them, and a fresh tree that's kept watered and away from the heat will see you through Christmas.

Come early for the widest choice, especially if you're after a big one.

Do you net and deliver?

Yes. Choose one of our fresh pre-cut Nordmann firs, or walk the fields and pick a Norway Spruce for us to cut fresh, and we'll net it for you so it travels home neatly. Delivery is available too, just ask.

We take cash and card, and there's parking on site.
